iPhone 4S or Samsung Galaxy S II? That is the question.
Luckily I made it through last month and even had 11p to spare. I’m now looking for easy ways to cut down my spending to prevent the same thing happening again!
Luckily my phone is due for an upgrade so it’s the perfect time to reevaluate my phone plan. I went to the Orange store today intending to replace my iPhone 3G with the new 4S. Because it’s an Apple the whole process is more cumbersome and the iPhone is the only phone in the store that wouldn’t be free with my upgrade.
After pointing this out to me, the guy in the store showed me the Samsung Galaxy S II, nearly exactly the same specifications except with a bigger screen, faster, would be free and I could pay less a month for the contract. But, it’s not an Apple product and lacks the ease of integration with my Mac that the iPhone would afford.
Buying a new phone is a big deal. I am making a two-year commitment without any trial period. That’s longer than any relationship I’ve had. That’s half of college in the States, 2/3 of college in the UK. And I always have the option of breaking up with a boyfriend, or leaving college. My phone is going to be my whole life for the next two years.
I remember reading an article in one of my trade magazines at the office this week that Samsung has beaten the iPhone in sales. Does this mean that If I get the Samsung I won’t be left out of the loop not having access to iTunes and the Apple apps?
I’ve spent all afternoon reading reviews comparing the two and Samsung seems to be winning, so why am I still so reluctant? Will I feel left out being the only one I know without an iPhone? Will there be equivalent apps available so I can write my blog posts on the bus and find out the Chelsea score while having coffee with friends? Will I find a way to transfer my music from iTunes?
